IPI holds Town Hall Meeting at MSG

Today, the 28th August 2025, the Institute for Policy Interaction held a town hall meeting under the Go To Vote Campaign at the Malawi School of Government in Blantyre, bringing together governance experts, civic leaders, and the students to discuss citizen participation in the upcoming elections.

The event, organized by the Institute for Policy Interaction (IPI), is being held under the theme “Your vote, your voice, your future!”.

Panelists included Ernest Thindwa, Managing Director of a primary consulting firm specializing in governance; Chimwemwe Kaonga, Team Leader at the Centre for Governance and Leadership; and Hudson Kuphanga, District Commissioner for Thyolo District Council.

Thindwa highlighted the importance of elections and the history Malawi has.

He also engaged the students on scenarios that have had a bearing on democracy.

On his part, Kuphanga explained how councils, particular Thyolo are preparing for elections.

He stated that youths must be active if there issues are to be addressed, remarks that Kaonga echoed.

According to Kaonga, youths form a formidable power to ensure national development.

The Executive Director, Prof Nandini Patel hailed the panelists for the rich insights and the students for actively partaking in the sessions.

The activity is part of the ongoing Malawi Electoral Support Project (MESP) with the funding from United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
