On 17th July, 2025 the Institute for Policy Interaction (IPI) held a High Level Dialogue in Lilongwe where it challenged youths to prevent electoral violence and promote peaceful coexistence during the forthcoming general elections.
The event had various stakeholders, including political parties and civil society organizations, aimed at creating an environment that encourages young people to engage in the democratic process without resorting to violence.
This initiative comes amid growing concerns over electoral violence and its potential impact on Malawi’s democratic progress
Speaking at the event, Prof Nandin Patel Executive Director for Institute for Policy Interaction (IPI) stressed on the importance of youths exercising their right to vote while promoting peace and stability.
Meanwhile Patel has expressed concern that many young people might not turn out to vote due to growing political violence.
